Our first stop will Thingvellir National Park, a UNESO heritage site . This is one of the only places on Earth where the Mid-Atlantic Rift can be seen above the land. This means you can walk between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, which break through the surface here in rocky outcrops.
We continue our journey to Geysir in the Haukadalur Valley, an area rich in geothermal activity with bubbling mud pools and the famous Strokkur geyser, which erupts every 10 minutes. The nearby Geysir, now mostly inactive, is the original source of the word “geyser.” Strokkur erupts up to 40 meters high, while Geysir once reached heights of up to 70 meters.
Our third and last main Golden Circle stops is Gullfoss waterfall, perhaps this is the most famous one of them. The amazing feature can tourists feel before it is seen, with the immense power shooting spray into the air hundreds of meters away. There are many spots and viewpoints to see Gullfoss from different angles.
