Please be ready at your pick-up location in Reykjavík by 08:00 am. The pick-up process may take up to 30 minutes, so there might be a short wait depending on your location in the city. The first day of the trip is dedicated to exploring the Golden Circle, Iceland’s most famous sightseeing route. Our journey begins at Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with significant geological and historical importance. It’s here that Icelanders established Althing, one of the world’s first democratic parliaments, in 930 CE. The dramatic cliffs of the rift valley mark the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates are gradually drifting apart. Our next stop is Geysir, the hot spring that gave the word "geyser" to the world. Though dormant today, the nearby Strokkur takes the spotlight, erupting every few minutes with impressive jets of hot water reaching heights of 65-98 ft (20-30 m). The area is filled with bubbling fumaroles and steaming vents, showcasing Iceland's geothermal energy. Next, we visit the mighty Gullfoss waterfall, one of Iceland’s most iconic natural wonders. The Hvítá River plunges in two stages into a canyon, fed by the Langjökull glacier. Gullfoss is both breathtaking and powerful, with a deep connection to Iceland's environmental movement. Following the Ring Road along the picturesque south coast, we reach Seljalandsfoss Waterfall. A path leads behind the waterfall, and rainwear is recommended as the spray can be quite strong. Walking behind the cascade provides the most beautiful and elegant view from every angle. Next, we visit Skógafoss, with its powerful 197-foot (60-meter) drop. On clear days, the surrounding glacier-covered mountains are breathtaking, and the mist often creates single or double rainbows, adding a magical touch to the scenery. Continuing along the South Coast, we stop at the Reynisfjara black sand beach. Here, you can admire the striking basalt column cave and cliffs, and look for the Reynisdrangar rock formations, said to be trolls turned to stone by sunlight. You’ll spend the night at a country hotel near Kirkjubæjarklaustur. From September to April, this is an ideal spot to step outside and catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights!

Today is all about glaciers. Our journey begins as we pass the massive Mýrdalsjökull glacier, which hides the feared volcano Katla beneath its icy surface. We then cross the vast Eldhraun lava field, a surreal landscape shaped by one of the largest lava flows in history from the 1783 eruption. The moss-covered lava rocks stretch endlessly as far as the eye can see! Next, we arrive at Vatnajökull National Park, home to Europe’s largest glacier, Vatnajökull. This park covers around 14% of Iceland, making it the country’s largest protected area. With towering ice caps, deep valleys, and lush oases like Skaftafell, the stark, rugged wilderness contrasts with pockets of green forests. Here, we will join an expert guide for a glacier hike across an outlet glacier of Vatnajökull. You’ll witness incredible ice formations, crevasses, and the sparkling blue ice that glaciers are famous for! (Part of the Adventure package.) This hike is available in summer, but from October to April, we replace it with an unforgettable journey through the Crystal Ice Cave, a naturally formed ice cave with dazzling blue hues and intricate ice formations. The experience is surreal, with each cave being unique, shaped by the shifting glacier. After your glacier adventure, we visit the famous Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. Here, you’ll see massive icebergs calving off the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier, floating majestically across the lagoon. The beauty of this place is otherworldly, with icebergs shimmering in shades of blue and white. From the lagoon, these icebergs drift toward Diamond Beach, where they rest on the black volcanic sands, sparkling like gems against the dark backdrop. It’s a breathtaking sight and a photographer’s dream. After a day full of iconic sights, we’ll settle into comfortable accommodation in the Southeast, a prime location for viewing the Northern Lights from September to April.

Today, we explore the breathtaking Eastfjords, a region known for its jagged mountain peaks, tranquil fjords, and small coastal villages. It’s a place where reindeer roam freely, and puffins nest along the cliffs. The landscapes here feel untouched, far from the typical tourist routes. Our journey takes us to Djúpivogur, a peaceful fishing village located on the edge of the fjord. With only a few hundred residents, life moves at a relaxed pace. Known for its strong connection to nature and eco-friendly practices, this village features unique outdoor art installations scattered throughout. On our way, we’ll make a brief stop at Egilsstaðir, the largest town in East Iceland, located along the Lagarfljót River. Surrounded by forests and hills, it offers a peaceful atmosphere and a legendary twist—the mysterious Lagarfljót Worm, said to live in the depths of the lake. Afterward, we’ll spend the remainder of the day at the Wilderness Center, Iceland’s only facility of its kind. Situated on the edge of the highlands, it feels like going back in time. Restored old farmhouses provide a glimpse into how life was once lived here, and the stories of the people who settled this rugged land still echo through the exhibits. *During your stay, you’ll have free access to the museum’s exhibitions. Upon arrival, cross an old wooden bridge to reach your historic lodging. Enjoy meals prepared with fresh local ingredients in an open kitchen. Afterward, relax by soaking in the hot spring spa, Viking-style! The bathhouse, built in an authentic style with a traditional stone hot spring, mirrors the ones used by our predecessors.

Today, we travel from East to North Iceland, with plenty of stunning sights along the way. Our first stop is Stuðlagil Canyon, where towering basalt columns rise dramatically from the turquoise waters of the Jökla River. The striking contrast between the dark, geometric rock formations and the vibrant blue-green water is unforgettable. This is one of the best-preserved basalt formations in the world, and the view from the canyon rim is truly awe-inspiring. Next, we continue our journey to the mystical, steam-filled landscape of the Námaskarð geothermal area. Here, boiling mud pools bubble beneath colorful mineral deposits, and gentle clouds of sulfur-scented steam rise from fumaroles, drifting across the land like a scene from another world. We then make our way around the serene Lake Mývatn, a region renowned for its unique volcanic landscapes and diverse birdlife. The shallow lake is dotted with over 50 small islands, formed by volcanic activity. As an optional extra, you can visit the Mývatn Nature Baths, often called the "Blue Lagoon of the North." These geothermal hot springs are fed by water drawn from 8,200 feet (2,500 meters) underground. Relax in the warm, mineral-rich water, surrounded by the peaceful beauty of northern Iceland. Our next stop is the Dimmuborgir rock formations, known for their dramatic, troll-like shapes. This area, often called the "dark cities," was formed when the roof of a massive lava tube collapsed, leaving behind towering lava pillars. The day’s last stop is the vast, crescent-shaped Goðafoss waterfall, before we continue our journey to Eyjafjörður, a beautifully scenic fjord surrounded by high mountains. Tonight, we’ll stay at a country hotel in Akureyri, where you’ll also have the chance to explore the charming fishing town in the north. From September to April, you can even venture out from your cozy guesthouse in the evening to witness the Northern Lights. *Please note that during winter, road conditions may prevent access to Stuðlagil. However, we will ensure you have other exciting activities to enjoy. Your safety and satisfaction are our top priorities. Thank you for your understanding.

On our final day, we’ll explore West Iceland, an area that Lonely Planet named one of the best travel destinations. The Borgarfjörður fjord region is full of breathtaking sights, and today we’ll focus on its highlights. After our hike, we’ll continue to Reykholt, a significant historical site. Here, we’ll visit Snorralaug, the hot spring pool of Snorri Sturluson, one of Iceland's most famous figures. Snorri was a leader, historian, and the author of several Icelandic Sagas. Next, we’ll stop by Deildartunguhver, Europe’s most powerful hot spring. The vast geothermal waters of this spring are vital to the people of Borgarfjörður, providing heat for homes, swimming pools, and hot water in towns like Borgarnes and Akranes. We’ll also visit Hraunfossar Waterfall, where numerous small, ice-cold streams emerge from the Hallmundarhraun lava field, creating a mesmerizing, graceful spectacle. Just a short walk away is Barnafoss, or “Children’s Falls,” named after a local legend of a tragic accident that gave it its haunting name.
